Our first philanthropic donation is to Project Nanhi Kali, supporting education for underprivileged girls. Project Nanhi Kali aims to empower girls with quality education and helps them complete their schooling. This project has supported the education of over 550,000 girls across 15 states since inception - Read more about their work here.
Specifically, since March 2024, we have been sponsoring secondary education for a construction labourer's daughter in Anakapalli, Andhra Pradesh. She is currently in Grade 9. We will be funding her education until Grade 12. We receive a report every quarter on her progress in English, Math, Telegu and her extracurriculars. We are proud to share that her attendance is over 80%.
Education is a human right
Climate change is not a sector-specific issue. If we are to solve the global challenge that is climate change - we will need to tackle it on all fronts. Empowering education for women is one such focus. Women are among the most vulnerable groups to climate change. Education is a key tool to uplift their socioeconomic conditions and build resilience.
- The dropout rate for girls at the secondary level is 16.88%, with figures being substantially higher for girls from vulnerable groups (19.05% for SC and 24.4% for ST girls).
- The retention rate of girls at the secondary level in 55%.
- ONLY 1 in every three girls completes school education age-appropriately.
At Nanhi Kali Academic Support Centres, every girl is provided with access to an AI powered personalized adaptive learning software, via digital tablets, that allows her to learn at her own pace. The software identifies the learning level of every Nanhi Kali, delivers customized content targeted to that level, and continuously re-calibrates to the girl's learning level through regular assessments. This enables the girls to have a unique trajectory that suits their individual learning needs.
